Love this and the Cross theme. Best Ive seen anywhere. I like the custom selection much better than the default. However when I choose custom the 1)Vid.& TV, 2) Games and 3)Photos icons remain in the original color default while all others are customized in the Menu section. I live in Beijing where I purchased a genuine N97. Rm-506. Any reason why these three icons cannot be ‘customized’ so it would be congruent? Best Regards.
@Mike
Unfortunately I haven’t yet found the necessary UIDs for those icons. Those are system folders which are model specific, so if anyone can provide me the UIDs, please tell me. They will come available at some point, and I will add them as soon as possible…
@Mike
I usually try to avoid any specific religious subjects, this one was kind of “one time exception” and made by request… But I promise to think about it.
im not really very good with phones and themes. i thought the sketch theme would work with my n97 but says its not compatible. is there a certain way to install? or am i wrong in thinking it should work? cheers
@tony
The warning message is caused by the theme editor which is not yet updated to cover all new phone models, so it gives a false warning (or your phone gives the warning, because it doesn’t recognize the theme as compatible). So the 5th edition models aren’t just “listed” yet, but don’t worry, the theme is compatible and safe to install and use. Just answer ‘yes’ to the warning question and proceed the installation
Can the top part on the homescreen doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the theme. It’s only on the homescreen though, it looks great on every other page/screen (as shown on the screencap).
@VC
Interesting. It seems that N97 handles the upper screen area differently and use the picture that is meant to cover the area only on menus (as you can see, the upper area is part of menus wallpaper). This is because there’s a malfunction in carbire theme editor and I have to place the menus wallpaper upper area manually in order it to show up correctly. Correctly in 5800 XM at least… So thanks, it’s good to know that the solution doesn’t work on N97, hopefully I can find some other way to do it.
Hi, please could you tell me if it’s possible for you to do a plain white/grey theme with the same iconset as in your Blue Sheen theme? If not, where can I find this particular iconset?
Regards,
Mark
I’m afraid that it’s not possible to do with basic theming anymore. It was possible with Nokia 5800 in early days, but the feature disappeared after a firmware update. But I still keep my eyes open for a possible solution.
I the meanwhile, there’s at least couple of apps that can also do the trick. The Rotary Dialer is a free app, little bit slow to use but should work. Then there’s this Ovi Store app Dial by Letters which is designed especially for this purpose, but cost 1 euro (well, not a bad price I think..).
I haven’t tried these apps, so I can’t say are they working OK, but maybe you can come back and tell if you decide to try them out?
I used the Dial by Letters, after much searching….I am disappointed that it does not work as expected. It is an app, which means you still cannot tap the dialer on the home screen to see the alphanumeric dialer. You have to execute it from the apps….I cannot find a way to replace the home screen dialer with this app either, you can add a shortcut, but that will not replace the original dialer…I would say it is not worth the $1 USD.

My favorite theme! It isn’t displaying entirely correct though (on my N97)

@ dumpystig
In the mean time, you can find the original iconset at Blue_Ray‘s site.
Have you tried the Sketch theme? But I keep your request in mind

Have been trying to get the ‘alphabet on dialer’ for ages.
Used your alphabet on dialer theme but alphabet is on every screen except main. Its in all the menus and on the full screen keybd.
Tried Ray v2, and red sheen v1.1 but neither actually show alphabet on dialer.
Am I doing something wrong?
Excellent looking themes!

Never mind, I did some digging in the old blog posts and realize the error.
Are you looking at a better solution?
